Robby Ginepri comes back from a set down to overwhelm Eduardo Schwank on Thursday night in Indianapolis. Ginepri advances to the quarterfinals along with fellow Americans John Isner and Alex Bogomolov, Jr.
Robby Ginepri overcame Eduardo Schwank 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-0 in the nightcap on Thursday, reaching the quarterfinals of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships after one hour and 40 minutes.
What turned into a blowout started with an extremely competitive first set. Neither man could break serve en route to a tiebeaker, although Schwank had to save two break points along the way. The 198th-ranked Argentine promptly dominated the decided seven points to one before he suddenly fell apart.
Ginepri lost only three games throughout the remainder of the match, breaking serve five times over the final two sets. The 95th-ranked American dropped only two points in his last three service games and lost a total of just eight points in the third set.
This year's Indianapolis title match is guaranteed to feature one unseeded American; in the bottom half of the draw, Ginepri will take on Alex Bogomolov and Wayne Odesnik will face John Isner. Bogomolov upset second-seeded Dudi Sela 6-4, 7-6(5) on Thursday afternoon. Isner knocked out No. 6 seed Denis Istomin 6-4, 6-4. The 6'9'' Isner never dropped serve in his straight-set victory.
