After losing in a first round for the seventh time in 2009, the frustrations are boiling over for Marat Safin, with the former No.1 appearing more and more unlikely to make it to the end of the season - where he can then fulfill his plan to retire.
The eight tournaments still on the schedule of the two-time Grand Slam champion Russian appear to be an almost insurmountable obstacle, to hear the 29-year-old speak after crashing out of the Swedish Open.
"I'm tired of the Tour, tired of staying at hotels and tired of traveling...I've had enough now," complained the streaky Safin after losing in straight sets to Spaniard Nicolas Almagro.
"I'm tired of everything that has to do with rackets and balls. I want to do something completely different," he told Swedish media.
The sentiments are nothing new for the easily-bored talent, who has never kept it a secret that his tennis shelf life is at its end.
With his last title the Australian Open in 2005, the 15-time trophy-holder looks like having a tough time of extending all the way to November, when he is due pull the plug on his career at the Paris Masters at Bercy, which he won in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
The colorful Safin has not revealed his post-tennis plans, but has indicated that anything would be more appealing to him than more of the same.
His stock on court is sinking steadily as his younger sister Dinara Safina continues to reign atop the women's rankings as No. 1.

If you actually watch his post-match interview Marat wasn't frustrated a bit. He's in peace with himslef. If journalists stopped asking him why he retires there would be no "complaining" from Safin.

mayhap it is just the right chance to say farewell and if necessary could always return as a doubles partner or perhaps a trainer in the future. to keep his eye on the ball ..
