    Santoro, Ram and Rochus into semis Fabrice Santoro, Rajeev Ram and Olivier Rochus advanced to the semifinals in a jam-packed day of tennis in Newport.

    With second round back-logs to get through due to heavy rains earlier in the week, the quarterfinal matches were finally completed at the end of the day.

    Fabrice Santoro def. Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4

    Top remaining seed Fabrice Santoro was able to handle the massive serve of countryman Nicolas Mahut to advance to the semifinals in straight sets. Santoro only had to weather 6 aces from Mahut’s racket in the one hour twenty minute match. Mahut’s return of serve failed him. He only earned one break point chance for the match, which he was unable to convert. Santoro was able to secure one break of serve in each set for the victory.
