Roger Federer is looking for a place to hang the Wimbledon Centre court net after being presented with the rather unusual gift by the All England club in the wake of his record 15th Grand Slam title success.
Now home in Switzerland after making more history, the expectant father is pondering exactly where to best display the odd bit of nostalgia. "What will I do with mine? Maybe I'll hang it against a wall in my chalet in Switzerland.
"Are they going to give me anything else? Perhaps the umpire's chair one year or maybe a Royal Box seat?" Don't give them any ideas".
As he awaits the birth of his first child with wife Mirka, Federer is pondering the enormity of his recent wins at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. "Something very special is happening to me", said one of the greatest to ever play the game.
"It's a great new cycle. I think that the fans have really started to get behind me again because after dominating and cruising through a lot of victories, some people wanted to see me lose a few times and then to see me win differently, as I did at the French Open and now again at Wimbledon.
"It's amazing to me that so many want to talk always so positively about me".
Federer, who is due to return to the courts for the August 10 start of the Montreal Masters - birth permitting - has already set himself new goals for the rest of 2009.
"I want to stay at No 1 and finish the year there", he said as Rafael Nadal works to get his knees fit after missing Wimbledon with tendinitis.
"I can't be at home for the next six months. I want to travel and Mirka has no problem traveling with me once the baby arrives. Mirka wants to see me play and I want to be with her on the tour and not sitting at home. It's not the life for me".

That's so great to know about Roger, they are a great couple inded! Also it's nice to know how much he wants his wife to be with him during the long hard tour !

I heard that Mirka and Roger have only spent like one or two nights apart in the last 6 or 7 years... :)

GREETINGS Malty! FEDfans! FEDERITES! Wow! Roger continues to AMAZE! He is such a "nice" person. Wish we had more like him in the world... As a fan, it is very encouraging that he wants to continue being #1 (for the rest of the year...). He will obviously apply himself with "determination" to accomplish this feat. Which means GREAT tennis is still ahead for us FEDfans! WHOOPEE!! LOL FEDERITES UNITE!!! WoW! What a thrill being a ROGER FEDERER FAN! What a THRILL being liked to a WINNER! CONQUEROR! HERO! He is in EXELLENT shape, and PERFECT INSPIRATION to us "ALL"! Human and then not human. May happinest fill his, Mirka's and their new baby (loved one) soon to be with life forever free and healthy. :) Pardon me while I ramble! LOL CHEERS FEDfans CHEERS! :)

Actually, I'm pretty sure he DOES know about that side of things. Everyone knows that when you win a lot, you make enemies. That's just the way of things. His being aware of that, I think, helps keep him humble. You can tell he really appreciates his friends and fans.

That is a weird present I have to say...Nice to know that Mirka is still in the mood to travel now, after the baby she might yell at him to leave her alone for a while. xD I think they generally like each other too much though. Best of luck to them both, I hope all goes as planned or better.

pete sampras was the first tennis player i saw and took a minute to sit down and watch in 96 at my ex boyfriend's place..then, might as well say roger was the next as he just had that something-special sort of appearance about 05....the guy was indeedsy outrageous..apparently, too go-dam-good,..
