Lleyton Hewitt's run to the Wimbledon quarter-finals has already go the Australian excited about the summer hardcourt season in the US and the former No. 1 ready to take aim at a US Open seeding next month.
With his ranking poised to move back towards the Top 20, the 28-year-old who now has a North American base in the Bahamas is ready to turn his attention to the cement.
New York is where Hewitt won his first Grand Slam title in 2001. "Obviously the US Open will be the next focus. For me, it's just about getting my body right and being able to compete there again".
"It was disappointing that I missed it last year (due to hip surgery). It will be nice to go back to Flushing Meadows. It's one of my favourite tournaments. It's a special place for me to go back to".
Hewitt is sure to be making appearances at the two summer Masters 1000 events at Cincinnati and Montreal next month.
"You're never a hundred per cent sure after a surgery how well you're going to feel after that, how quickly it's going to be able to come back and whether you're going to be able to compete with the best guys in the world".
"I feel now that I'm able to do that".

As I said in another article, this sport deserves to have Lleyton back in the top 10.

I'm really glad for Hewitt. He really won me over in Wimbledon, especially since he seems to have calmed down a lot more than during his earlier years. I hope he gets back into the top ranks soon.

I really love Hewitt after this, I was pulling for him, even against my beloved Andy, because I was not really hoping to makes A-rod's final appearances more lack luster. He is a great fighter I must say of the little guy, I hope he is seated for the US Open since I'm supposedly going this year, I can hear the cheering sometimes when I go out for walks but I've never gone. Lame....

Hewitt was absolutely revitalized and competitive. A nice comeback. Hope he does even better at the US Open.

Hewitt was fun to watch at Wimby. I felt he should have won over Roddick... In the end Roddick did everything I thought Hewitt would end up doing, beat Murray and give us a entertaining FINAL. I look forward to seeing Hewitt play again. Hope he continues to challenge well, a notch or two better (if/when possible) would help bring even more excitement to the next tennis tournaments.

the problem is that lleyton will need all the right rhythms to face the eye of the public. looking at the earning static/s, he's right up there with them. it shows enormous dedication with the former world no.1 putting in everything he has in order to succeed. lleyt will need a good rest, definitely, and take it as it comes ..
