Andy Murray managed to raise the roof at Wimbledon with his five-set thriller win over Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka.
Murray had a late lie-in before starting his quest to prepare for his quarter-final date with veteran Juan Carlos Ferrero.
"I'll sleep late, I'll practice around 2 pm", said the Scot after his adventure which marked the latest Wimbledon match finish ever at 22:40 pm London time, thanks to the newly installed lights under the moveable translucent roof.
"I'll go have an ice bath, massage, see the physio for an hour and a half and make sure I eat three or four very big meals, get as much food in me as possible, and that should be enough".
Murrray thrilled his 15,000 strong public with the win in four hours; he and Wawrinka are frequent practice partners.
Wimbledon officials have always said that there will be no night play at the Championships, but Murray's match shows that the slippery slope towards turning Wimbledon into a day-and-night grind in the style of the US and Australian Opens is potentially just around the corner.
"It took a while to get used to", Murray said of the unfamiliar sensation on playing on indoor grass at night. "I played some great stuff and Stan played some great tennis as well".
"I felt it was harder was to serve. I didn't think that the ball was coming off the strings that quickly on the serve because of the humidity and it slowed the ball down".
"Now I know how I'll have to change my game if I do play under the roof, and I'll know the way that the court plays. In my opinion, there's quite a big difference".

I said before wimby started that I was rooting for Murray and Verdasco, but the latter was missiled-out yesterday so I have to go with Ferrero (didn't expect him to get this far).
But if Murray wins is okay too. I won't be too tense about this match :) (not like deuce)

Alex- I agree. I said on another thread that I thought Murray looked sick when he came out on court last night- indeed, he looked like he had just finished a match rather than about to start one. They must burn up alot of energy waiting 3 and half hours in the locker room before they get on court- for another 4 hours. Agree with your points regarding his serve. If it aint working, Murray looks very ordinary. Hope its straightforward against JCF.

A five-set thriller indeed.

Muzz didn't look good before the start last night and I didn't feel good looking at him. After Stan had finished his warm-up, muzz was still unsuccessfully practising his serves. He managed to squezze in two more hurried efforts after the umpire called time and both of them ended up at the bottom of the net - not a confidence-building way to end your warm-up. Having opted to serve first (unusual for muzz?) he proceeded to continue in the same vein and send most of his first serves into the net. It would certainly fit with what he says about conditions slowing the ball down, but stan had to contend with the same conditions. It's clear now how dependant muzz has become on his first serve 'firing' and with only something like 40-odd % of first serves in the first set, there was now way he was going to come out on top.
Still, hat off to stan. He played a terrific match and his power game took full advantage in almost exactly the same way that nando and gonzo have done in recent times.
Please muzz, back to the A game for JCF. If muzz can get 70% of first serves in for remainder he can lift the trophy - if he doesn't he could well go out in the semis.
