Roger Federer has made a bit more Wimbledon history with his 47th victory at the All England club sending him past Andre Agassi in that department.
But the Swiss who is bidding for a sixth title from seven years and a record 15th Grand Slam overall really cannot afford to get bogged down in the relative trivia.
"I mean, it's not one (record) I was dreaming about as a boy", he said with a smile after reaching the second week. "But it's nice to get. If you asked Agassi, he probably wouldn't even know he had that record himself."
Federer is bearing down a a re-run of the French Open final against Robing Söderling as he takes on the Swede again in the fourth round. And the second seed has laid down a subtle warning to the talented challenger.
"I think it's going to be interesting to see how he's going to enter the match after coping with such a long tournament in Paris, we'll see how fresh he still is.
"I've played him here in the past (2008 second round), and I've played him on grass a few times now.
"I've had success against him (10-0), but I know the danger because he hits extremely hard. I definitely got to be ready for that match."

Johan, what record is this for? The most wins? Surely Sampras would have won more times at the All England Club.
cable , 6/28/09 1:42 AM
Yes, I am also confused about the record, what exactly is it? (Good too know Fed isn't sparkling in a daze over it, whatever it is.)
Recordbreaks , 6/28/09 1:57 AM
Sampras has 63 wins at Wimbledon
RickyDimon , 6/28/09 2:45 AM
So he surpass Agassi to be no.2 on the all time winner's list?? Hardly worth mentioning, really. The real record would happen if he wins the tournament. He would move to 15 GS titles, regain No.1 and also have the French-Wimby title in the same year.
cable , 6/28/09 3:27 AM
i think the Federer is worried about the Queen of England being at the final....she is a BIG Muzzite. Fed is so sweeet and respectable, impeccable civility....he gonna let Muzz win if Muzz makes it past Hewitt . And if FED get past the Robin Hood. Please Roger...do not take any more crap...just go enjoy beautiful wife. This Wimbledon does not deserve you....all the trashers and disrespectful coverage and commentary......you are a legend, 5 time Wimbles champ. Pull out and watch the worldwide ratings drop like a stone! Let Hewitt spoil the party...loser commentaters have already given trophy to Murray.
WE love you Roger!
zoey234 , 6/28/09 3:38 AM
Mwah Zoey! I love you girl, but anything Roger is giving out is going to be "IN YOUR FACE" tennis! Nothing will be FREE! Why should he be disrespectful to the game of tennis?! After all it has made him a multi-millionaire. He will give his foes everything he is made of, the skill, the strength, the determination, the commitment, the MAGIC, the whole "S H A B A N G", and like a true WARRIOR/Gladiator he will demolish, and conquer. He is very CLEVER. He will SHINE. He will be SHARP. He will be DANGEROUS, and TRICKY. BELIEVE DEARY! I don't listen to the garbage none FEDfans dish out. This is a time of glory and honour. A time when our FED is out there doing what he does BEST, play AWESOME tennis! A time for our FED to be STRONG and to stand up for what he believes. I time for the WARRIOR AND the GLADIATOR to SHINE. Whatever happens, happens. I believe his spirit and everything about Roger FEDERER will see him through to the END, cup in hand at Wimbledon 2009. He is ready. Roger will give 100%. He will have FUN, Execute his plan, and he will WIN. Let's see what happens. Get ready to see some GREAT tennis by Roger Federer! Roger FEDERER is the GREATEST tennis player of all time. We will see the GREATEST tennis player of all time crush his opponents (or at least come out the the WIN LOL). It will be GREAT INSPIRATION in ACTION! And you know what? Although he does not need to do it, he will do it anyway just for the LOVE.... For the "LOVE"... because he can. :) Cheers FEdfans! CHEERS!
sky , 6/28/09 5:16 AM
opps was meant as (or at least come out "with" the WIN) :)

sky.......I LOVED YOUR POST! keep going lovely guy! I do understand why zoey feels the way she does....seems like the commentators her side of the pond were awful to fed.....BUT zoey....you are a strong, independent woman! as a fedfan....
WE work as a team and block out the crap that comes for all corners of the globe.......it is simply that fed is more than a match for anyone.....commentators will have their own favourites....but fed has the stats to back it up....but more than that....HE HAS THE PASSION AND THE HUNGER.....
one of the british commentators over here Frew Williams...(very olde English..a gentleman) who was speaking at the French Open...(and bearing in mind that he has been in tennis for over 25 years in terms of his expertise...tho' not sure whether he was a player?......said: '
'The one thing I have UNDERESTIMATED is how much Federer wants to win....how much he LOVES the game.....forget the things that people have said about him in terms of his form dipping at one time.....the guy has NEVER lost the PASSION or the HUNGER to win'....).
The fed is 'ON FIRE'. He is a wonderful ambassador...He is moving through the field with passion and the HEART of a lion...zoey lovely.....he is here to PLAY! to PLAY! HE IS NOT UNDERESTIMATING ANY PLAYER, ANY OPPONENT....he is out there to WIN!
go:Roger:go!

zoey234: I don't know where u get your info from but the queenie is not in the LEAST interested in tennis, last time she showed was in 1977, her Jubilee Year, shows how interested she is. Horse racing is her bag. BTW Andy M is immune to the hype. All he wants to do is win!
deuce , 6/28/09 7:41 AM
zoey....lovely....here is a post on sod/fed match........have some faith girl! we support the fed and send him pure energy! focus! love!
Tomorrow, he will meet Roger Soderling in a re-enactment of the French Open final three weeks ago. Soderling lost that afternoon in Paris for a 10th consecutive time to
Federer ? but the man who has won Wimbledon five times acknowledged before that final that the gangly Swede would be a greater threat on grass.
He will get an opportunity in tomorrow?s fourth-round match to determine if he was
right or not.
As for Soderling?s poor record against Federer, I am reminded of the day when the late Vitas Gerulaitis, twice a semi-finalist at Wimbledon, finally beat my old buddy Jimmy Connors, then declared dead pan: ?Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 14 times in a row.?
Regardless of the result, for me Magnus Norman is a nominee for coach of the year for the job he has done in turning Soderling from a journeyman into a player with enough confidence to impose his big game at major championships.
I believe Federer will survive against Soderling. We have seen glimpses of Federer?s most majestic tennis and, as a warning to his rivals, he is starting to strike the ball with purpose and serving as well as ever.
But there is no respite for him because in his quarter-final will be Ivo Karlovic, the 6ft 10in giant from Croatia, or Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
Facing Karlovic serving is like being a batsman having to deal with a barrage of bouncers. In the last round, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has an accomplished return,
never had so much as a single break point in the match.
Verdasco has always had a good game, but lacked steel. He rectified that by heading to Las Vegas last winter to train under the direction of Gil Reyes, who used to be responsible for the fitness of Andre Agassi.
Should Verdasco overcome the service prowess of Karlovic, as I predict, the Spaniard?s tournament will be brought to an end by Federer. Until Rafa Nadal defeated Federer in fading light 12 months ago, in the greatest match I have ever seen, the 27-year-old from Basle had won this title for five consecutive summers.
When he walks on to Centre Court, he thinks of himself as bullet-proof. He will need to be at his sharpest in the semis, when I feel he will be confronted by Novak Djokovic, who is looking like a player who has come to Wimbledon in the belief that he can win this championship.
Djokovic has won a major, capturing the Australian Open 18 months ago where he defeated Federer in the semifinals. That gives a man innerbelief. But I selected Federer to win this championship before a ball was hit a week ago and nothing that has happened since has caused me to change my mind.
Federer! go forward and be strong! Zoey...you do forget one thing in your posts honey! Fed is driven!

Zoey comon girl he is the man
When you are thinking of Murray think of Agassi against Roger in the final of US open did you ever watched that match, Aggasi in the states, he always handled the pressure of crowd favorite in good way, on the other hand being the less appreciated one didn?t hurt him before: in US open 08 they called him the " sentimental favorite" this year's French open they thought he will never pass 4 th round so check out what happened in those two tournaments commentators are just people who makes living through talking but some has real references like bunch of them are Nadal's huge fans now its English's turn so its ok Federer at least is being smart about it so we should learn from him as his fans he didn?t play with any good player yesterday's opponent was a real joke so he wasn?t at real pressure so far. I hope Stan can do better the next match. So PULLING OUT is not an option this is Wimbledon when he lost it last year it took him 5 months to recover look what happened to Nadal when he lost roland garros so please keep the positive thoughts alive I wish this can be his month still have to meet a lot of dangerous players ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so keep the faith and don?t think about English media and Murray! If it is meant to be no body can stop it
tennislover , 6/28/09 9:03 AM
malt1: Murray and Hewitt have both taken out K., how boring is he to watch!! He served 55 aces against Hewitt and still lost.He has no other game whatsover. Am hoping for sake of tennis, if nothing else, that Verdasco whops him, but if he doesn't surely TMF will give him a tennis lesson. Could not bear it if Kwon a tournament like Wimbles, believe I would stop watching tennis!
deuce , 6/28/09 9:04 AM
zoey...
what's happened to u? u really seem to be bothered with sth?
I think they ARE picking Roger as a favorite along with Andy. actually I would be happier if there was less talk about him, less pressure for him. (the annoying thing is that they keep asking other players' opinion about andy &roger, really tiring for them)...there is no problem so cheer up! :)
I loved Roger 's answer about breaking this record. he says the same thing all the time. from 2007 he always told the interiewers that he is not sick ambitious about breaking records..and when he does break one he doesn'e make a big deal out of it.
zoey u should read more articles about Roger on Wimbleson.org,very nice. the last one I read had called both Roger and Rafa 'magnanimous'.
GO ROGER!!!!!!!!

zoey is just having a 'moment' i think....she will be fine...i posted this article here for her and all fedfans......i think she need to come over to UK and stay with me a while to see that fed is UNDER the radar...and that is just the way he likes it...it is all murray hype right now....let him take the pressure and enjoy it......
fed is the true master and i know...along with millions of other fedfans that he will remain the best throughout the tourny...he is on a mission and will have rested up completely this weekend...ready for the next game...the next match....keeping his eye on the trophy.....in sight...but still a way to go....so no more negativity zoey!
This is tennis! This is sport! enjoy the experience and the journey with the fed! Don't let trashers/haters/commentators/murray put you off......no reason to listen to the doubters......fed doesn't listen to them...he just concentrates on the tennis......
so get back to basics and start believing in our fed...our CHAMPION of PLAYERS.....He is out there to win...He is driven by the very force of his HUNGER and PASSION to play for the LOVE of the game....the pressure of FO is off his shoulders...monkey is off his back.....he can play free tennis.....free and relaxed in his style...but on a mission to win! Go:Roger:Go!

hi federites ...so nice to see you all here .
been a tough week huh ? with all the media hype about murray ....well ...at least our man fed has not put us thru so much of drama this week . he is playing some magnificent tennis . very federer like if u know what i mean :) .
Looking at the competition ahead i decided im not gona look anymore ....we need to keep it together and look at round 4 now ....to hell with whats to come ...what will happen will happen ...we all know what happpen when u become too overconfident and assume ur gona make it to the final ...
rite now , soderling is up for a collision with the FedExpress ....ive not heard of many surviving a collision with this train especially on grass ! :P Like i said before ...it'll be a much better match than the finals a month ago ...but the same results . Both will have their games raised on grass ...on playing best on grass ..one just born to play on grass ( ill not bother explaining who is who ) ..
I expects the FedExpress to check in to the Quaterfinals on time ....with no major issue ..

If Fed loses a set to Soderling he can always resport to his latest trick in the book:
"Less appealing is him (Federer) adopting the thoroughly modern habit of lesser players and demanding a toilet break midmatch. He did it yesterday after the third set, thereby disrupting the rhythm of the match, and has been doing it a suspicious amount lately, despite being of an age when bladder control should hardly be an issue".

You know who is "the big time loser", here some symptoms:
1-Cant see the signs cant admit them even when they are quite clear
2-Cant expect a result when all the " row data " are predicting them.
3-Cant appreciate the good quality even when surrounded by bad ones.
4-Cant make a success so trying to make it by doubting the others
All applying to you are such a big loser, seriously dude, now you are turning to bath room breaks! that is so low of you seriously, you cant be real by getting to this issue you are hitting rock bottom in the time some other players take almost a minute in bouncing each ball ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, one more comment like that and you will stop irritating us and that is the reason why we come here to make fun of losers like you

I have already expalined about that tabloid on another thread...there is NO EXTRA BREAK for going to tiolet,it's within the normal set break...the author is putting the leave for bathroom in the same league as fake calls for trainers and time wasting between points. again there is NO TIME WASTED for going to tiolet. did u actually watch the match?
when Roger returned he had enough time to change shirt ,drink water and then the umpire called"time"
case closed,we don't need to discuss a tabloid article.
niloofar , 6/28/09 12:24 PM
fedexfan:
I had heard numerous nice comments from Andy Roddick, but the one u posted is simply the BEST!!!
yeah,it seems the author of the tabloid couldn't think of a better story...probably shocked that Roger didn't calll the trainer after the fall.
the guy has not even botherd to check the facts and realise there is no bathroom break,it was sth of the past that players could leave the court within the set,now it has changed...only within the normal set-break. and funny the article say:"thereby disrupted the rythm of the match..." says it like it was 20 minutes ..!! I had never heard such a clear statemant even on fake calls for trainers....the tabloid writer was stupid,I'm stupid more to bother for it.
niloofar , 6/28/09 12:34 PM
Greetings FEDfans! :) Another day of rest for our/the FED. I feel sooo relaxed this tournament, relaxed and smiling about all the hype. The FED is going to do what he wants/has to do. It is not going to be easy (it never is), but the Master of tennis is "ON GUARD"! He is enjoying himself TOTALLY, and COMPLETELY! Let's just say that any of the players in the field would rather be playing someone "OTHER THAN" Roger FEDERER to get to the final, and to WIN it?! LOL :) It is a GREAT time for our CHAMP! He is in GREAT form, playing AWESOME tennis, and having FUN! WHAT ELSE could any of us want from our beloved ROGER?! LOL He is WINNING, and he is GOING to continue WINNING...! Go ROGER go! You are the ROCK ROGER! You are the "ONE"! Right the Wrongs! Go! GO! GO! LOL :) Aller Roger! Aller! :) Bring it ON Malty, Fesdexfan, niloofar, tennislover... Let's see what happens. :) Good point niloofar "there is NO EXTRA BREAK for going to tiolet,it's within the normal set break...". I would agree with the statement by Roddick "I'd love to hate you , but you are just so nice ..." is priceless! LOL

fedfans...here is a short preview on wimby homepage about match tomorrow......
Preview: Federer v Soderling
Saturday, 27 June 2009
Written by Byron Vale
Last year?s Wimbledon rematch of the French Open Final took place on the final day of The Championships. It was a match that upset the tennis world order and things haven?t been the same since. Rafael Nadal?s victory ended Roger Federer?s five-year domination at the All England Club, and it set in train a series of events that led to Nadal usurping Federer as the world No.1 and much more.
Monday?s French Open final rematch between Federer and Robin Soderling could upset the tennis world order even more...but only if Soderling wins. Since winning at Roland Garros and given his serene progress through the draw so far, Federer is being inked in by many as the 2009 champion.
Federer has never lost to the Swede in 10 encounters but, then again, Soderling knows something about springing a surprise. To reach the French Open final, he became the only man ever to beat Nadal at Roland Garros.
?If you asked me before Paris, I would say he's definitely more dangerous on grass than on clay, but then you saw all those great matches he played in Paris and you're worried, too,? Federer said.
?So he's definitely proven his point that he's a good all?around player. I haven't actually thought about the match at all yet. But I think it's going to be interesting to see how he's going to enter that match after coping with such a long tournament in Paris and see how fresh he still is. But I've played him here in the past, and I've played him on grass a few times now.
?I've had success against him, but I know the danger because he hits extremely hard.?
This is uncharted territory at Wimbledon for Soderling, who will take heart from having beaten Nadal at the French Open.
He said: ?Maybe it's the same challenge. It's very tough to beat Rafa on clay, and it's as tough to beat Roger on grass. But I made it once. We'll see. It's going to be a tough match, for sure.?
Soderling has never made it to the fourth round of Wimbledon before, but until Paris three weeks ago, he had never been in the final of an outdoor tournament. If the roof is closed over Centre Court and Soderling is technically indoors, could he upset the tennis world order again?
Fan Comment:
Id like to say Federer in 3 but Soderling has been playing good tennis for the past 6 weeks so ill say Federer in 4 sets. Minus his lapse in concentration on Friday Fed has been near perfect, looks to be back towards his very best form. I think the battle could be won or lost before the match is even played, a 10-0 deficit including the straight sets defeat in Paris a few weeks ago will certainly be in the back of Soderlings mind.

Itzzzzzz Interesting........
--------------A Great Shot-------- A Great Escape-----------------
Two sets down, facing a break point at 3-4 in the third, Roger Federer seemed doomed to a fourth-round exit against Tommy Haas at last month's French Open. But pressure induced magic: an unstoppable forehand missile passed a baffled Haas before he could move his feet, and the Swiss won the game, the match, and the tournament.
Roger Federer--- I was struggling throughout the first two and a half sets. My shots weren't finding the target.
David Mercer---, Eurosport commentator He was making an awful lot of unforced errors, particularly off his forehand wing.
Tommy Haas--- Djokovic was out, Nadal was out. Maybe Roger was feeling it a little bit, knowing that this was maybe a great opportunity for him to win the tournament.
Mercer-- Everyone was thinking it: this was his great chance to take the French Open.
Federer-- Sure, you're aware of it. But you focus on your shots.
Mercer -- What a brave shot he played: 30-40 down on serve at 3-4, and he went for a big forehand. Such a risky one, given that he'd been missing so many of them.
Haas-- He ran around the ball and played a really precise, nice forehand inside-out.
Federer-- My first good shot of the match.
Mercer-- Federer held the game and broke Haas in the next. From then on, it was his.
Federer-- I knew I was going to look back on that shot. It saved me.
Mercer-- If he hadn't won that point, I think Haas would have held serve in the next game and Roger would have been out.
Haas --You've just got to tip your hat and say, "That's why he's Roger Federer."
Go Roger Go................

Zoey : if I may make comment here , Roger didn?t make it to the final yet neither did Murray so lets not think of that yet. If the Queen going to make it to the finals that would be so nice of her I have never seen her attending a tennis match before I though it might be prince William like what happened in the champions league final but if it will be her so be it . Murray is taking the advantage of the crowd as much as any player can do but its his chance and he is really seizing it so well. So lets wait to see if and am saying IF Roger and Murray made it to the final it will be a thrilling match . i read Stan?s pressor most of the questions were about Murray he had to add Roger name some how to change the subject which was really funny. Queen or no queen this is Roger back yard, so lets wait to see.
keep the finger crossed for tommorow........

lol malteser, bursting with sunshine, is you and sky...you both make me laugh....happy laugh, chuckle, giggle.
I like really respect old people, even if they are wrong, bias, completely incomprehensible.....thinking of 82 yr old landlord who is still vacationing in Paris w/ one of his 3 girlfriends....in their late 40's to early 50's!
Also read Telegraph, mirror, sun, mailonline.....I like variety in diet and not all is kosher....hehehe. I am not at all kosher, malt.
Went for a bike ride this a.m., completely trying to sort thro my newly acquired anti-murray sentiment and loathing of men's tennis coverage. This is my 9th Wimbledon and dunno, been watching US Open forever, always with my sweet dad. If he was here he's be laughing at me for sure. I can just turn it off.....but disappointed. Maybe the down economy is driving some of the hype and is it a tradition to begin advertising the US Open during Wimbledon in US? I am likely naive or maybe had blinders on in true see no evil monkey fashion until 2009.
Beginning to chill out, a notch, Malt, sky, fedexfan, mdmch...have 24 hours to find my 'happy place in tennis'
could use some humor and wisdom here Gorafago.....where are you?

Thanks Tennislover. It should be Roger's backyard as RG is Rafa's and it was inconsiderate of fans in chartrier if they did boo Rafa , cheer for errors but the opinion is mixed about how bad it was and who was to blame. Tennislover, I try to capture a balanced perspective by searching but its limiting cos I admit I do not have satellite dish, only basic cable which relagates me to ESPN. Unlike during French Open and masters events, ESPN is giving PLenty of tennis coverage, but never have they left out RF matches unless FED starts losing and then get excited, as in happy when he does and go on about this and that how Murray can beat Fed if he does this or that and coming from P MacEnroe, it is RUDE.
I liken it to the crowd in Cartrier...disrespecting RAFA only this is an onslaught disrespecting Roger the likes of which would make any tennis talking Fed hater cheer in glee, I suggest they download ESPN and stream it!
but thanks...I am trying to ignore it all.

hey zoey...just gonna post what i posted on the other thread...if you have read it already...just scroll past.....T-H-I-N-K....P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E......game by game!
Hey zoey and fedfans....('spesh zoe..)....just read the following....even fed referred to visualising! but more than that...the author of this article zoey.....has acknowledged the fact that the press are not respecting fed's game! (even tho' it was initially 'bout the first match against Lu...you get the gist honey? Read the FIRST paragraph c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y zoey...take heart lovely....
The hasty clamour to anoint Andy Murray at Wimbledon this year has ignored the presence of a truly exceptional player in the tournament, one who is searching for a record 15th Grand Slam title and who has not exited a Grand Slam tournament earlier than the semi-final stage since departing the French Open in 2004.
That's more like it: Federer in more familiar appearance on his way to victory over Yen Hsun Lu
Lu, from Chinese Taipei, who defeated a jet-lagged Murray in the first round of the tennis competition at the Beijing Olympics, played skilfully enough to demand a scurry through Federer's arsenal of shots.
There was a gorgeous backhand pass in the fourth game, a sweet dink over the net to take a 3-0 lead in the second set and a quite stunning forehand reply after a backhand volley at full stretch from Lu at the net had placed the ball in a seemingly impossible position. Federer allowed himself a little clenched fist salute of celebration after that. By then, he was beginning to warm up.
He served a powerful ace to win the sixth game of the final set, taking the score to 4-2, won the next game with a tremendous forehand pass on the run and clinched the match with another forehand to a deserted corner of the court, Lu by now a beaten man.
Those who had considered Federer rusty after the first set, which he won 7-5 when Lu made a really poor and out-ofcharacter error at the net, were now frothing with praise; Centre Court rose to applaud him, which may be considered excessive, having overcome a player who is currently rated 65th in the world, but it was a sincere and genuinely warm appreciation.
Federer was only a stand-in, opening the show court in the absence of Nadal, but this was his castle until his young rival stormed it in the epic final last year and he appeared at home; dauntingly so, for his rivals.
'Monday at 1pm is a very privileged spot,' said Federer. 'I felt honoured. Rafa deserved it more than me, but somebody had to do it when he could not come and it gets your heart beating, that is for sure. I would imagine it made his decision to withdraw very difficult.
'You have to live through it, walking down that corridor, visualising what is going to come, to know what I am saying. There are always nerves before every first round match here, because it is Wimbledon.'
And so many times, it has belonged to Federer. While some might think that after beating one Chinese tennis player, after 30 minutes you fancy beating another, Federer will be grateful that after playing his first match of the season on grass he must now wait until Wednesday to face his next opponent, the Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
zoey..i think you just have to remember how b-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t fed's shot making is.....don't forget it girl!
C'MON!
Allez Federer!

zoey...for you......(am trying my best here girl.....!)....
LONDON (Reuters) - Facing Roger Federer on grass is usually a daunting enough prospect but lining up against the Swiss with a dodgy stomach could make Robin Soderling feel more than a little queasy on Monday.
The Swede has been in the Federer firing line 10 times and on each occasion he has come off second best.
The most recent was in the French Open final and just three weeks on from that drubbing, Soderling is hoping to find a quick cure for his health problems if he is to have any chance of upsetting a man chasing a record 15th grand slam title.
"My stomach has been pretty bad since Wednesday, so I didn't eat a lot. I felt pretty bad," said the 13th seed after reaching the second week of the grasscourt major for the first time.
"And it's tough to play against Roger. I've played him 10 times, and after the match I never felt like I played well.
"It's not because of me, I think it's because of him. It's tough to play well against him, put it that way. I'd like to improve everything from Paris."
Revamping his game in just 22 days is almost a mission impossible. Gifted with a thunderous forehand, Soderling has the ability to leave many opponents huffing and puffing as they chase after his winners.
He also employs a high-risk strategy of blunting his opponents strengths instead of exploiting their weaknesses. Those tactics can catch out most players but Federer is no ordinary rival. Continued...

zoey......have taken on board what you have said about the british press and have found a couple of r-e-a-l-l-y....P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E......articles about fed.....have spent the last 30 minutes trying to find...as you have said....a lot of the B. press is 'all about murray....' but this is a golden nugget my friend! enjoy and to all fedfans enjoy too!
Tim Henman feels Roger Federer has stuck two fingers up to critics who wrote him off by coming back stronger than ever.
Henman has been impressed by Federer's first week at Wimbledon and thinks he will overcome Robin Soderling in their last 16 clash today - and reach the men's final in a week's time.
The Swiss star beat Soderling to win the French Open, despite some pundits claiming his previous dip in form had signalled the end of the Federer era.
But Henman who reached four semifinals at Wimbledon, said: "All this talk about Roger wobbling because he dropped one set the other day is just ridiculous.
"With Rafael Nadal pulling out he has a great chance of winning Wimbledon.
"The first week went really well for him and this coming week favours him in terms of the order of play. If things go according to plan he will play Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
"It is a nice bonus for Roger to have the whole weekend off. Yesterday he could really get away from everything. And I am sure he will have a good prac-ticsession today.
"Nothing I've seen in the first week has changed my view. He is favourite to win."
Federer, going for a 15th Grand Slam title and a sixth Wimbledon crown, overcame a third set slump before beating Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in the third round.
Some argued that his defeat against Nadal in the Australian Open Final - which left Federer in tears - was the moment power shifted in men's tennis.
But Henman said: "People don't appreciate how good Federer is.
"They say, 'Oh, that was a good shot', and you think, 'No, hang on, that was an unbelievable shot. He just made it look easy'.
remember that zoey! 'unbelievable player making unbelievable shots look easy!

malt....really love that you took time to post articles....all ones from 6/28, had not read and ones I had, worth a second read to marvel at how RF plays his genious tennis, the best ever and unbeatable when he is at his best.

Hey girls, not trying to curb your enthusiasm here but some of these posts are TOO LONG and REPETITIVE. Really, it sometimes feels like I'm reading the same thing over and over again in almost every thread. We get it that you love the Fed, but for tennis fans, even for this one that likes him, it gets too much. Why don't you go over to the rogerfederer.com website and vent your love for him there. Leave room for some real debating about tennis here.
cable , 6/29/09 1:26 AM
I loved the articles Malt! :) I will be at work tomorrow during the FED game! All the BEST to our FED. Go FED go! Cheers FEDfans!
sky , 6/29/09 4:25 AM
Homos, the article you posted criticized Fed for being pleased with himself. I think it is perfectly fine to be thinking positively about yourself. I read in RF.com in the FAQ section on Fed, 'What is the best quality that you have?' and Fed answered 'I am a very happy person'.
I think Fed being happy with himself is how he won the French and US Open. He didn't care too much about the close losses to Nadal and kept on believing that he is the best despite all this and proved just that.
And about the toilet break, I think it is during the set break which is insignificant as most of the time players do not care what the other is doing anyway during a set break. And Fed doesn't disrupt the opponents rhythm DURING the match with long-routine before serve like Nadal, ball-bouncing like Djoker.
FED IS THE BEST even in the sportsmanship department (5-times Stefan Edberg award and Prix Orange)

cable....morning buddy....
try not to approach this with sour grapes...we have enough of that on this site....zoey did not have access to searching for any fed articles...if you read her post her 'wifi' was down and streaming wasn't much better........
you have as much opportunity to post articles about fed...(we all do it...) and it is to SHARE the wide variety of articles out there written about fed.....you have the choice don't you? I posted THREE articles cable...all long I know...but with things like these...i scroll down and look at the most important points of the article....and I do find that some of the fedfans (mdmuch who is in the jungle right now)...sky...zoey....fedex...rafaterfan....always comment on them.....
so why the doom and gloom? if you don't want to read them..then don't...and if you want to debate tennis then post something interesting so that we can debate it...but try not to criticise 'cos it doesn't really add anything....it isn't designed to upset anyone...just to inform and then you can debate...
so why don't you do that cable? and be happy?
have a good day.....
Allez Federer!
