Germans Tommy Haas and Philipp Kohlschreiber reach the semifinals of the Gerry Weber Open on Friday. They are joined there by Olivier Rochus.
Tommy Haas d. Mischa Zverev 7-6(5), 6-2
After a tight first set, Haas to control of this all-German clash in the quarterfinals of the Gerry Weber Open. He needed only one hour and 15 minutes to set up a semifinal showdown with Philipp Kohlschreiber in yet another all-German affair. For a while, however, Friday's encounter was in doubt. Haas and Zverev exchanged one break of serve each en route to a tiebreaker, which Haas pulled out seven points to five. From there the veteran never looked back. The difference in set two was second-serve points; Haas won all six of his while taking eight of nine at the expense of his opponent's second offerings. The world No. 41 finished with nine aces and only one double-fault.
Philipp Kohlschreiber d. Andreas Beck 3-6, 6-3, 6-3
Halle's German fans were treated to another battle between two Germans, and this one went the distance. The 24th-ranked Kohlschreiber got off to a slow star, never seeing a break point in the first set, but he turned things around in sets two and three. He served at over pecent in the second to help force a final set, and he played cluth tennis throughout the third. Kohlschreiber saved all four of the break points he faced in set three and converted two of his three opportunities. He finished with an impressive 17 aces, including seven in the third set. Beck, meanwhile, double-fault seven times on the way to squandering his one-set advantage.
(Q) Olivier Rochus d. Benjamin Becker 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3
A second German coughed up a set lead en route to losing the final two sets 6-3, 6-3. This time it was Becker, who fell to Rochus after two hours and four minutes. Neither man could break serve in the first set and Becker, who saved three break points along the way, took the ensuing tiebreaker seven points to four. After that, however, it was all Rochus. Becker fired 11 aces in the opening frame of play but came up with nothing of the sort in sets two and three. Rochus never faced a break point throughout his last nine service games of the day, and the 5'6'' Belgian lost a mere two service points during the third set. Next up for Rochus is Novak Djokovic, against whom he is 2-0.

- Sorry again. This game right here I've come to realise as a number 1 priority for Hasy if he's to get even better. I see he has been playing amazingly for more than ten years which is why he might find it harder and being on the right track would prove beneficial. Cheers anyhow to the two but we shall see what happens,..

- A sensational win to Hasy. I need to get the date right of the semis; unless they're a day forward in Germo. Hasy will find a tough match in his hands with Philly improving nicely with each tourn. I of course , will definitely not be upset if Hasy loses - but I got a feeling he might win. He's nearly there anyway. He would need a focus and great rest to protect him. But nevertheless, let's hope for a good game now ahead of us,...
