    (9) Ivo Karlovic def. Julien Benneteau 7-6, 6-7, 6-2

Ninth seed Ivo Karlovic is through to the last 16 for the fifth time after taking out Julien Benneteau in the second round, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2. The Croat turned in another stellar day on serve, hitting 33 aces on the day. Karlovic did not face a break point in the match and won 91% of his first-service points. After splitting two tie-break sets, the ninth seed quickly built a 4-1, double-break lead. Karlovic closed the third set 6-2, finishing the match in two-hours and two-minutes of play.

Karlovic will face Nicolas Mahut in the round of 16. The Frenchman upset fifth seed Marin Cilic on Wednesday, 7-6, 7-6.

    (14) Mikhail Youzhny def. (WC) Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 7-6

Mikhail Youzhny booked a spot in the AEGON Championships round of 16 following his second career grass-court victory over Marcos Baghdatis. The Cypriot looked to turn the match around after dropping the opening set, earning two break points at 4-2 to go up a double break. Baghdatis, unable to convert, immediately dropped serve in the following game to relinquish the lead. Youzhny jumped ahead 4-1 in the second set tie-break, capitalizing on the weak second serve from Baghdatis. The Russian collected three match points to lead 6-3, finishing the contest in just under two hours.

Youzhny moves on to meet third seed Gilles Simon in the next round. Simon dismissed wildcard Grigor Dimitrov late Wednesday, 7-6, 7-6.

    (Q) Nicolas Mahut def. (5) Marin Cilic 7-6, 7-6

2007 Queen’s Club runner-up Nicolas Mahut delivered a 7-6, 7-6 straight-sets upset to fifth-seeded Marin Cilic on Wednesday. The 20-year old Croat never lost serve in the match, but failed to play consistently on the big points. Cilic played a poor opening-set tie-break, winning just a single point to lose the first set. The Croat continued to struggle into the second set, missing three chances to level the match at 5-6 on the Mahut serve. The Frenchman, who went unbroken on the day, took a 3-0 lead in the second set tie-break. The 146th-ranked Mahut reached 6-4 in the breaker, securing a spot in the round of 16 on an unreturnable serve.

Mahut plays ninth seed Ivo Karlovic in the round of 16. The Croat came through a three-set match with Julien Benneteau, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.
