Lleyton Hewitt lost only one game in his opening round match at the AEGON Championships on Monday. The four-time former Queen’s Club title winner moves safely through to round two.
Former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt needed just 44 minutes to make his way into the second round of competition at Queen’s Club Monday afternoon. The veteran Australian dropped a mere single game to opening-round opponent Eduardo Schwank of Argentina, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Hewitt, a Queen’s Club champion in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006, captured 12 consecutive games after Schwank held serve in the opening game of the match. The 28-year-old controlled every aspect of play, securing three service breaks in both the first and second sets. A lethargic Schwank offered little resistance throughout the contest, winning a dismal 10 of 37 points on the day.
Hewitt completed the day pocketing 83% of his first service points behind a couple of aces. The Australian improves to 17-11 on the season.
The former World No. 1 moves on to face Frederico Gil of Portugal in the second round. Gil dismissed Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round, 6-1, 6-3.
