The knee problem which plagued Gael Monfils in the run-up to the French Open was never in evidence on court as the flamboyant Frenchman made it all the way to the quarter-finals before running into Roger Federer.
With plans to purchase a portable unit of the heat-and-ice Zamar machine - originally designed for horses - Monfils is convinced that he's got the problem undergo control.
As a Wimbledon junior champion in 2004, Monfils has twice reached the third round, so his grass record is respectable.
The 22-year-old will travel this weekend to London to prepare for Queen's and is hoping for some useful tips from his Australian coach Roger Rasheed, who once handled Lleyton Hewitt.
"Roger told me that he's got an interesting recipe for me. First he wants me to take a rest and then he thinks he's got the solution for me so that I enjoy playing on grass more. If I listen to him carefully, we'll have a very good Wimbledon".
Monfils said that he's looking forward to the grass for the sake of his injury alone. "As far as my knee is concerned. So I'll take care it. I'll continue of the Zamar machine, I'll even buy one, as well".
"In three weeks I have another opportunity perhaps to do something excellent during a Grand Slam. So I'm really well focused for the upcoming three weeks".

it is a very cruel thing that can be when you want to move but cannot. perhaps monny should have a rest until the us open to fully give that leg a stretch. but he was exactly fabulous during this tourney....i was quite surprised most of my favos went out early including the girls but wonderful to see an old time favourite win the girls' anyway....between the men i'm sure we are bound to see something different.
