Novak Djokovic refuses to complain about his world No. 4 ranking despite his concerns about sliding a notch while reaching major finals on clay. Instead, the Serb is just getting on with the job at the French Open.
"You know the rankings: I'm No. 4 in the world. There is no match to talk about rankings. But the way I was playing on clay, I must be very happy, I've been very consistent at the major events, said the losing finalist to Rafael Nadal at Monte Carlo and Rome and semi-final victim of the Spaniard at Madrid.
"It's not on me to judge if I'm No. 1, 2, 3, or 4 on this surface. It's on me just to go as far as I can on the tournament, and hopefully step further here at Roland Garros".
While the 22-year-old former Australian winner likes his chances at Roland Garros, he's not making predictions. "It's just the start of the Grand Slam, it's a two-week event.
"You never know what's going to happen. You can say that there are a couple of guys who are favourites to get to the quarters or semi-finals. But there are also a lot of players in the opening rounds who are really dangerous."
Djokovic was passed this month by Andy Murray in the ATP standings as the pair swapped spots.
Djokovic says his Belgrade tournament was stressful but worth it.

i think Djokovic deserves 3rd ranking now more than ever it is pitty that he lost it to a boring player like Murray too bad

Frankly,Novak is the cleverest and the most spontaneous guy on the tour.Good luck,Nole.Everything best.

Murray is very good player but djokovic deserves a better ranking, anyway i think djokovic must concentrate on winning this frensh open first and then he will get back his ranking as world number 3

if one was to look at the actual ATP race, it becomes quite obvious he is No2 at the moment.....Murray is highly over rated ....

Well people talking of Murray being over rated??? well the recent success is all that remains in your mind i guess...it's Murray who had a better hard court season second only to Nadal...and his showing on clay has not been as good as the other 3 of top 4...but still better than what he did last year and hence its reflected on the rankings.....there is nothing like he deserved it more or less.......if you have been good the past 1 year the rankings will reflect it.....simple.....

see, I still disagree.....
Murray was terrible this time last year, marginally better this year and only because he doesn't lose the Madrid points in Oct, he remains No3...we'll see when he starts defending lots of points come the second part of the year...
bianca , 5/28/09 9:36 AM
I must agree with Bianca...in novembar Andy will go dawn for Madrid 1000 points...and there is a lot of point to defend in HC part of tour. In this moment he is No3 just because of statistic... Nole should think about No2 and hopefuly to maintain this level of his game.
...and journalists today...well just like voulchers...smeling the blood and corps, looking for scandals. Nice move Nole...:-) They shold go to another adress looking for trush talk... we all know here who got the bigist mouth on tour...
