There could be more home disappointment at the French Open in addition to the exclusion of drug-positive Richard Gasquet as Gael Monfils battles a longstanding knee problem which could keep him out of the major starting Sunday.
"If I had to decide today, the answer would be no," said the world No. 11. "I'll make my decision at the last minute. I have six days until the Tuesday start and I'm hoping for a miracle".
The 2008 semifinalist is bothered by an inflammed kneecap which doctors say could require surgery. The youngster coached by Australian Roger Rasheed has not played since losing in the Monte Carlo first round six weeks ago and was beaten this week in an exhibition test in Paris.
