    5/6/09 6:04 PM | Kelli DeMario
BMW Open - Cilic cruises into quarters Marin Cilic reached his second consecutive quarterfinal berth at the BMW Open on Wednesday. The second seed defeated 2007 champion Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-0, 6-4.

The world No. 15 made quick work of the 41st-ranked German on Wednesday afternoon. Cilic built a three-break lead in the opening set, looking solid on serve. The No. 2 seed took advantage of a struggling Kohlschreiber, who won just 33% of his points on both first and second serve.

Cilic fought off three break points in the second set, converting four of five of his break-point opportunities in the match. The 20-year-old Croat missed his first chance on match point, capturing the second to close the contest in 77 minutes.

The 6'6'' Cilic advances to his first quarterfinal since he fell to Spaniard David Ferrer in Dubai. Cilic added to ATP World Tour titles to his resume earlier this year, winning the championships in Chennai and his home tournament in Zagreb. With the win on Wednesday, Cilic extends his 2009 record to 23-6.

Cilic will meet Jeremy Chardy of France in the quarterfinals. Chardy took out sixth-seeded veteran German Nicolas Kiefer in the second round, 6-4, 7-6.
