    BMW Open - Cilic through to second round Second seed Marin Cilic secured a place in the second round of the BMW Open Tuesday afternoon. The Croat defeated German qualifier Dieter Kindlmann in straight sets.

    World No. 15 Marin Cilic, the highest remaining seed in the draw at the BMW Open, turned in a solid performance to reach round two on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Croat faced no break points during the match, securing a victory in just 75 minutes. Cilic broke serve twice in the opening set and never faltered on his own serve, winning 83% of his first-service points, 67% of his second.

    Cilic had little trouble with the 210th-ranked Kindlmann in the second, going on to pocket service breaks No. 3 and No. 4 early in the set. The second seed won 12 of 13 points on his first serve, increasing his percentage to a stellar 92%.

    Cilic finished the day with four aces, capturing 88% of his first-service points. Cilic will take on hometown talent Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round. The 41st-ranked German came through the opening round after compatriot Bjorn Phau was forced to retire.
