Former French Open champion Gaston Gaudio is so impressed with his own comeback that he's requested a wild card for Roland Garros this year.
The 2004 French Open winner had not been heard form for nearly two years before winning his first ATP match since 2007 this week in Barcelona.
Suddenly, Gaudio is full of himself and his new-found confidence. And the Argentine is not shy about asking for favors.
"I'd love to play in Roland Garros. I've requested a wild card and am hoping to get it. This win is unbelievable, it's great to win a match at this level again," said the 30-year-old Argentine.
Gaudio dropped off the rankings map in recent years, and now sports a No. 966 ranking.
But he's on the prowl for free entries, starting with Novak Djokovic's event in Belgrade next month. "I'm just hoping for some wild card invitations," he said. "I'll go where I'm invited."

He doesn't have a WC into Belgrade yet. I believe Gaudio is in a Challenger event next week.

He took home a title there- if he is fit to play and wants to compete, he should have a wc.

He would be crazy NOT to request a WC into RG and they would be crazy not to give one to him.
