    Houston - Hewitt and Korolev advance to semis, Haas upset Former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt joins Evgeny Korolev in the semifinals of the US Men’s Clay Court Championships on Saturday. Bjorn Phau took out 2004 champion Tommy Haas.

    Bjorn Phau def. Tommy Haas 6-3, 3-6, 6-3

    World No. 77 Bjorn Phau secured a place in the semifinals on Friday, defeating compatriot Tommy Haas in three sets. The 29-year-old German, making his second appearance in Houston, converted five of 10 break-point opportunities in the match. Haas looked to turn the tide after taking the second set, but continued to struggle on serve. The former world No. 2 struck seven double faults, winning only 17 of 44 second-serve points. Phau will take on American Wayne Odesnik in the semifinals.

    Evgeny Korolev def. Guillermo Canas 2-6, 6-3, 6-4

    Russian Evgeny Korolev, playing in his debut at the US Men’s Clay Court Championships, dismissed Argentine Guillermo Canas in a tight three-setter. The Argentine looked to take control of the match, jumping out to a 5-1 lead behind two breaks of serve. Korolev rallied from a set down to notch a win, converting six of 11 break-point chances. The 21-year-old survived a rash of unforced errors, overcoming a hiccup serving for the match at 5-3 in the third set. Korolev finished the contest with a solid 68% of first serves won. The Russian meets Lleyton Hewitt in the semifinals.

    Lleyton Hewitt def. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3, 6-4

    Lleyton Hewitt booked a spot in Saturday’s semifinals, posting a win over Argentine Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The veteran Australian turned in a strong showing, breaking serve four times in the match. Hewitt led 3-1 in set one and 4-0 in the second set, fighting off seven of nine break points. The former world No. 1 came through mixed bag on serve, hitting eight aces and six double-faults. Hewitt survived a marathon game serving for the match at 5-4, closing it out on his fourth match-point opportunity.

I think Kelli has a personal vendetta against Isner and Odesnik this tournament.
