Spanish tennis officials face a deadline next week to decide among a group of cities all eager to host the summer Davis Cup quarterfinal tie against Germany.
With power of tennis no more evident in Iberia due to the record-breaking performances of No. 1 Rafael Nadal and his supporting cast on the ATP, it's a seller's market for the July tie.
The powerful federation, which just changed president recently after pressure from players, is sorting out the potential candidates with a decision due to the ITF next Monday.
The reigning champion Davis Cup team, now captained by former great Albert Costa, could find itself on clay in locations ranging from Marbella, Zaragoza, or Port of Santa Maria.
In addition to Davis Cup, the men's and women's calendars are full of Spanish events, with the Madrid Masters switching outdoors to clay in May after a run indoors in October. In addition, a new women's event is set for the resort of Marbella.
