Fernando Verdasco has toughed out an ankle problem sustains two months ago, ignoring medical advise to stop playing for up to two months.
The Spaniard revealed at the Indian Wells Masters that doctors had tool him he would need to take time off to let the problem from the Australian Open heal. But that was not in the plan of the Melbourne semi-finalist.
"They told me that I had a split in the perineal tendon, they told me to be eight weeks with a boot", he said of the discouraging medical diagnosis. "I said 'No chance, eight weeks? I would need to pull out of Dubai and Davis Cup and also Indian Wells, Miami".
"When he told me eight weeks, I said I will not put the boot. And I (told him) not to do anything. I'll see how is it feeling. I was able to do things without pain and I made a good recovery".
Verdasco lifted his fitness ever further with training sessions in Las Vegas with team adidas mentors Gil Reyes and new hire Darren Cahill, who turned down the chance to work with Roger Federer due to the extensive travel.

well....its quite stupid ...but then maybe he will pace himself ...play the MS1000 only ....he is on a roll....and i think though physically it might be hurting for him to participate ..mentally it would be a killer if he does not use the momentum he has ...you dont wana go out injured , not play 2 MS and come back finding urself loosing that special edge that he has worked so hard to gain over the past few months...maybe thats what he is thinking ...we will know based on the tournaments he chooses to play in ..

There is some medical evidence that says doing what he did can actually promote a better recovery. He still took some time off so let's hope all is well.
