Andy Murray's Davis Cup next week could be in doubt after the second seed withdrew on Thursday from the Barclays Championships in Dubai with a virus.
The Scot made the call several hours before his scheduled quarter-final against France's Richard Gasquet, handing the Frenchman a walkover.
Murray said he's been feeling under the weather for a month or more. "I got this in Australia and haven't been 100 percent since. I woke up sweating last night and during the match yesterday I didn't feel so well."
Murray said doctors tell him he could need up to a week to ten days of rest to cure the problem, for which he is now on medication. He is due to carry the load for Britain in a week in a European zonal Davis Cup tie against the Ukraine in his native Scotland.
