Rafael Nadal, who sustained an injury against Andy Murray in the Rotterdam title match, is confident that he will play in next month's Davis Cup tie between Spain and Serbia.
World No. 1 Rafael Nadal apparently did not injure his troublesome knee as many thought during his loss to Andy Murray on Sunday in the Rotterdam final.
"It's wear and tear on a tendon that especially kept me from serving well, but we're practically sure that there'll be no problems," Nadal explained. "I'm not worried about my knee. It's not an injury like last year. It was just a question of too much wear and tear and fatigue."
The Spaniard only sat out one week in between his Australian Open triumph and his appearance in Rotterdam. He reached the title match--taking out Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils en route--before falling to Murray 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
Nadal is not sure he will be able to participate in next week's marquee ATP event in Dubai, but thinks he is good to go for Spain's Davis Cup tie against Serbia in early March.
"My knee won't be a problem for playing Davis Cup," he insisted. "I'm really looking forward to playing it. It's just a matter of resting. I also hope to be able to go to Dubai, but we'll see."
Spain is defending its 2008 Davis Cup title after going into Argentina last fall and upsetting the host nation for the trophy. Fernando Verdasco, who capitalized on his Davis Cup momentum by reaching the Australian Open semifinals, clinched the title for the Spaniards with a five-set win over Jose Acasuso.

tenisbebe, take it easy, why so much anger, no need at all, if you read an article properly, you'll find out Serbia as a country has been mentioned, surely, cause Nadal can't play Davis cup by himself, so it's very much connected, secondly, many Serbs do like Nadal very much, me personally after Nole, very much indeed, so take it down, and don't say stupid things.
Do have a hope, Spain & Serbia will entertain us very much in spite of fact, they're better at the moment...
