2008 Davis Cup finalist Argentina will have to do without top player Juan Martin Del Potro after the No. 7 said he cannot make a quick switch from hard-court to clay.
The South Americans will host Holland on red dirt in Buenos Aires March 6-8. Del Potro has promised, however, to come back on board for any quarterfinal in the worldwide team competition.
"I'll be playing on hard-court and the Davis Cup is on clay", he said. "It would be very difficult for me."
Argentina was beaten at home in November by Spain in the final, with the visitors doing it without injured Rafael Nadal.
In Barcelona, the historic Godo clay tournament in April has a new director as 2002 French Open winner Albert Costa took over.
The Spaniard, a 20-year-member of the Real Club where the event is held, replaces longtime boss Sixte Cambra, who ran it for 24 years. Rafael Nadal has won the last four editions.
