A probe has been launched by tennis authorities into a suspect first round-match at this week's Zagreb event in which former No. 8 Guillermo Canas went down to a Croatian wild card ranked 255th.
The anti-corruption flying squad of the Tennis Integrity Unit of the ITF are investigating the strange circumstances, in which Argentine Canas was beaten 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The victory for Antonio Veic over current No. 68 Canas - reportedly suffering with an arm injury - was flagged as dodgy by the Betfair online agency after a marked change in betting patterns as the contest progressed.
Betfair made a name by first alerting to the world to a similar on-court situation in 2007 at Sopot, Poland, as Nikolay Davydenko quit with a foot problem against unfancied Argentine Martin Arguello Vassallo as bets soared to $7 million for a relatively anonymous contest.
Davydenko was later cleared of any wrong-doing after a lengthy probe.

Guys like Davydenko and Canas earned millions from the sport. I dont see why they would need to throw matches

I was following that match. The betting patterns were very similar to other fixes, although on a smaller scale.
