Roger Federer is set to end his brief pause from tennis after confirming his participation in the Madrid Masters which begins over the weekend.
The world No.2 advised through agent Tony Godsick that he will front up for the next to last Masters of the season after resting for three weeks.
The first hint came as Godsick rang to make a preliminary hotel reservation for his client, which was later confirmed in a telephone call to relieved tournament director Manolo Santana.
"It's a great relief to be able to count on another year with the presence of Roger Federer," said a the event boss. "He is a great champion and without doubt he is one of the top candidates to title."
Federer lost the 2007 final to Argentine David Nalbandian and withdrew last week from Stockholm, saying he would take an indefinite rest after overcoming glandular fever at the start of the season.
