The top seeds all kick off their 2008 If Stockholm Open on Tuesday in an action-packed day of tennis.
David Nalbandian vs. Bobby Reynolds
Top seed David Nalbandian will take on American Bobby Reynolds in what should be a comfortable match for the Argentine. Reynolds is ranked 82 to Nalbandian’s 7 and Nalbandian has far more match experience. Unfortunately for Nalbandian, his play is unpredictable. He has had some strange losses this year, most notably to Jeremy Chardy in the second round at the French Open. Still, it is hard to imagine Reynolds with enough firepower to down Nalbandian. The Argentine in straight sets.
Mario Ancic vs. Olivier Rochus
Mario Ancic has been battling on and off with injuries and illness for the past couple years. Glandular fever sidelined the Croat for six months in 2007 and he once again fell ill this summer and was forced to withdraw from Cincinnati and the US Open. He is apparently healthy once again and looking to make a run in Stockholm. He has split wins with Belgian Olivier Rochus, with two apiece. The last time they played was in 2005, and Rochus is not the player now that he was then. The Belgian’s ranking has dropped to 110 in the world and his most notable result in 2008 came at a Challenger event where he reached the semifinals. Ancic should breeze through this one.
Jonas Bjorkman vs. Juan Monaco
As one Swede returns to tennis, another says goodbye. Jonas Bjorkman is playing his last season on the ATP tour this year. The well-respected veteran has reached a semifinal this year in Memphis, but his ranking has fallen to 173 in the world. His opponent is Argentine Juan Monaco, who is ranked 43 in the world. Though Bjorkman is sure to have the crowd behind him every step of the way, Monaco will probably win this match with relative ease.

We'll see, I suppose. I'd love to see Jonas put in a great performance his last time around.

Did you know that... Michael Llodra is famous among other ATP players for his practical jokes.

Why should Monaco win with ease? He lost to Nielsen on sunday, and is in poor shape. So is Bjorkman, but he is gonna be pumped up since it is his last tourney in Sweden. Bjorkman in three.
