  • Federer backs himself for more major titles

     - Roger Federer has revitalised his tennis with a fifth straight US Open title, leaving the standout Swiss with all the optimism he needs to aim for more of the same in coming seasons.

“I'll always be able to win Wimbledon, always be able to win the U.S. Open”, said the confident No. 1 after his success over Andy Murray for a 13th Grand Slam trophy.

But there is also a downside, with the Swiss admitting that the French Open - the only major that he has never won - could prove to be a tough ask. “But I still have a shot there”, said the three-time losing finalist to Rafael Nadal in Paris.

With his confidence given a massive boost by his first big title of 2008, the 27-year-old sees no reason why he cannot go on in similar winning fashion for years to come. “I feel so much better physically today than I ever have. This year was difficult, but I feel so fresh. I have no niggling injuries like I did when I was 20 or 21”.

“I remember having a sore are every day and muscle pain all over my body after, like, a four-setter. As long as I'm healthy, I'm going to believe till the end of my tennis days that I can win a Grand Slam”.
