At age 30 the American Bryan brothers are in no mood to slow down in their tennis careers - especially with a key Davis Cup battle looming within a fortnight in Madrid.
The Californians are expected by their team to earn the key doubles point against Rafael Nadal and company when the US face Spain on clay inside a Spanish bullring,
Crowds will be out in their numbers, perhaps rivalling the 25,000 or so who watched the 2003 final in Valencia when the hosts crushed the visitors.
But the Bryan boys are fired up after earning a second career US Open doubles crown and are already thinking ahead to their next big job.
“We've been talking about that every day in the locker room, we look forward to that match as much as we look forward to a Grand Slam final”, said Mike Bryan.
“If we could give our team a point on that Saturday, we'll be happy guys. On paper we're the underdog, playing on dirt against Spain”.

Did you know that... Fabrice Santoro and Arnaud Clement fought during 6 hours and 33 minutes in the longest match ever played, in French Open 2004.

The Bryan brothers will give the U.S. a point, I'm sure, even against Lopez-Verdasco (and even, I believe, against Nadal-Robredo -- anyone know when the official Spanish team roster is going to be released?).
But, as P-Mac appears to be taking the same team as last year, just based on the psychology of holding the thing in the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas? Anyone looking for a repeat of US Davis Cup 2007?
My breath. I am not holding it.
