2008 is far from finished, but Roger Federer can already breathe easier when he thinks ahead to the 2009 campaign, which will be relaxed by comparison to the packed-out current ATP season.
“This is quite a unique season,” said the US Open second seed. “Rafa wasn't happy with the clay court season. I was not particularly happy with scheduling at the Olympics”.
"We all wish we would have had more time between Wimbledon and the Olympic Games - or after".
“But there was not really a whole lot we could do because of the Olympic Games. Every four years maybe there will be a tough season like this".
”Next year's schedule will already be much better. We'll have much more time and won't be forced to play every single week“.
Federer, winner of the last four editions who is seeded second behind Nadal, still likes his chances of another trophy in New York. ”I know what it takes to win the US Open, That's a huge advantage I have“.
”I come here as a defending champion, so I always have great feelings about this place“.

It'd be good if he could stay in the moment. 2009 is a long way away. at the risk of sounding like a granny, 'don't count your chickens before they are hatched'.

Although I'm Pro RAFA, it would indeed be a great pleasure to watch FED-EX numero uno play against RAFA in the Finals. NOLE would follow second best. My best bet so far, NADAL will beat any of the two top seeds in USO 08. RAFA in 4 sets! The Philippines is routing for you NADAL!
