Nikolay Davydenko remains unsure of how he in managing to get motivated for the Beijing Olympics after scratching through an opening match over Latvian Ernests Gulbis.
The Russian who stands fifth in the world admits he can barely find the interest to train any more.
“I've not been playing well the last few months, I don't know why”, said Davydenko, who took an extraordinary month off after a Wimbledon first-round loss, winning one of three Masters Series matches in North America before trudging to the Games
“I've not practised well and haven't been concentrated on the tennis”, said the player hit by year-old suspicions of possible match-fixing which have yet to be substantiated by the ATP.
“I didn't enjoy playing in these tough conditions”, the 27-year-old said to the Beijing heat and humidity at his second Games.
Davydenko may just be wearing out after years of a near nonstop schedule. “The last two years I've played so many tournaments, I've just been trying to keep getting good results and defending points”.
“Sometimes it gets a bit too much for me”.
