Andy Murray's Cincinnati title breakthrough this month was enough to convince British bookmakers that the hot Scot is an Olympic medal prospect.
The world No. 6 has been given 6-1 odds to win singles gold in Beijing following his Masters Series trophy performance over Novak Djokovic.
But that's not all, with Ladbrokes cutting Murray from 12-1 to 8-1 for a US Open crown. “This could prove to be a defining moment in Murray's career”, said a spokesman.
“Much has been made of his talent but until now he has failed to deliver at the elite level. But victory in Cincinnati changes all of that and reinforces the belief that he can challenge for the sport's major titles”.
Money on Murray continues to mount, with the firm also laying odds that the 21-year-old will lift a Grand Slam title before his 30th birthday. And just for good measure, he's also tipped at 10-1 to claim the noted BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
