  • Andy Murray ready for Olympic challenge

Andy Murray ready for Olympic challenge Andy Murray may be one player who won't find the heat and humidity of Beijing much of a strain after winning the Cincinnati title in similar hothouse conditions at the weekend.

The Briton, now on a career-topping No. 6 ATP ranking, couldn't hide his enthusiasm at his Olympic prospects after winning his biggest title so far and then hopping a jet for China.

“I'm absolutely fine physically and mentally, not at all fatigued”, said the 21-year-old. “I need to hold that over the next few days (at the Olympic event which begins on Sunday)”.

“You have to beat the jet-lag and just look forward to playing in such a big competition”.

Murray has elbowed his way into the ranks of medal contenders as he plays his first Olympics along with the big three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, whom Murray beat on a sixth match point to lift the Cincinnati crown.

Unlike Federer, who will be living privately as he tries to stabilise his season with a major title, Murrray will be lapping up all of the Olympic experience that he can by staying in the athletes' village. He will also be teaming with his elder brother Jamie for Britain in Olympic doubles.
