  • Nadal and Berdych look to set up 3rd round showdown

     - Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych have an interesting rivalry and will look to add another chapter by winning their matches on Wednesday.

Hard-hitting Tomas Berdych will face Igor Andreev for the second time in a Masters event in North America. They played earlier this year in Miami, where Berdych won in straights. I would expect a similar story to play out here, if not more Berdych oriented. These courts are faster than the ones in Miami and that should play towards Berdych's advantage. The lack of wind does the same. Berdych should have little trouble taking out Andreev. He is a solid player, Andreev, but will be simply overpowered by Berdych.

Rafael Nadal has an easier second-round matchup in the form of qualifier Jesse Levine. Levine is a young American player who has been making long strides this year towards reaching the top 100 and is nearly there. He is also a lefty like Nadal, but he is a 5'9'' timid guy from Boca Raton; clearly not the pedigree of a Nadal slayer. Levine might make it a tad bit interesting as he gets a feel for Nadal, but once things get rolling and Nadal loosens up, it won't take long for the five-slam champ to stride to the locker room.

Tough. I would like to say Nadal but he is coming off that Wimbldeon final with a hurt knee.
