Andy Roddick says he caught the epic Wimbledon final won by Rafael Nadal over Roger Federer on television before and after an airplane flight in the US.
And the two-time finals loser to Federer at the All England club described how he raced to a television after landing following a flight after visiting with his soon-to-be-relations.
“I watched the first part of it at my fiancée's parents house, about a set and a half”, said Roddick, seeded sixth at this week's Toronto Masters. “Then I took a flight home (to Austin) and got to watch the last little bit when I landed at the airport”.
The American said that he almost missed the biggest show in the sport. I rushed off the plane and had about 20 text messages on updates from the match.
“I just ran to the TV and settled in and watched the end of it”.
Roddick was in awe like the rest of the sporting world at what he saw on court during the epic battle. “The coolest part about it is it's just great for tennis”.
“The next morning I go and get my bagel and my coffee. Everyone's coming up to me and wondering about the match and talking about it and making comments about it”.
“Wanting to know what I thought. That's never really been the case before. It really was different. To have people excited about it outwardly was pretty cool”.
