19 year old Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro made his second final in as many weeks by playing extremely solid tennis and dispatching of Victor Hanescu.
Both of these men won their first titles last week, Del Potro in Stuttgart and Hanescu in Gstaad. However, in this match, Del Potro played a stunning game.
JMDP is finally living up to his potential in these last two weeks with these runs. He is serving bigger on both first and second serves and from the baseline is hitting extremely flat and aggresive. Hanescu also served well and played a fine game, but on the big points, Del Potro was simply better. 5 break points the young Argentine faced, and he saved all 5 of them. Many of them being the results of a huge serve. At 6'5'', he has the height, but just recently has gotten it all together to become a weapon. From the back, Del Potro was playing big and flat, something that would be more suited to a hard court, but is working on clay.
Del Potro will contest his second final in as many weeks on Sunday when he faces crowd favorite Jurgen Melzer.
