     - The impact of the classic Wimbedon final has been felt even in the rarified air of F1 racing, with championship leader Lewis Hamilton lauding tennis warrior Rafael Nadal.

The newly crowned Wimbledon winner, 22, has the respect of the British driver, a prodigy in his own right with seven GP victories from 23 starts and a winner of the British race two Sundays ago six hours before Nadal dethroned Roger Federer.

Nadal had something new”, Hamilton said during practise in Germany.“He has a hunger”.

The driver said that he listened to the final in his motorhome after his own afternoon victory in a match which ended sloe to 10 p.m.

“It went on for so long, I only caught the last half an hour and that was enough for me. I thought Federer was going to win. He's fantastic athlete, but I knew Nadal was hungry for it”.
