The mystery injury which affected David Nalbandian during his first round loss at Wimbledon was revealed yesterday.
Nalbandian was surprisingly monosyllabic during the post-match press conference, hinting that there was an injury of sorts but refusing to comment any further.
Yesterday his physiotherapist Diego Rodriguez revealed to sports newspaper Ole that Nalbandian is struggling with a right arm injury and is currently undergoing a recovery program. Nalbandian says that he will definately not compete again till he is 100% fit but he may need surgery, an option his team have yet to decide upon.
He is already almost certainly not going to compete in Toronto or Cincinatti and if he does choose to go under the knife he could miss all of the US hard court season. The Olympics would definately be out and he would be a major doubt for the US Open
Andy Roddick is also on the elite player sick list at the moment, struggling with a lingering injury he's had since mid-May. Roddick declined to comment further but its likely to be the shoulder ligaments he damaged in Rome. During his second round loss at Wimbledon he was far from serving at full pace
