  • Swoosh logo the real winner at Wiimbledon

     - The iconic Nike “swoosh” received top billing in the classic Wimbledon final, with one American business sport magazine estimating the company's free worldwide television exposure in excess of $10 million.

    Sports Business Journal said that the logos worn by both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were the subject of close-ups and tight shots for an aggregate of 35 minute, 23 seconds during the match of well over four hours.

    Federer sported a total of seven gold swooshes (shirt, bandana, wristband, one per sock, and one per shoe). Nadal had a massive 11 black ones (shirt, bandana, one per wristband, shorts, one per sock and two per shoe).

    An even finer breakdown shows the Swiss received just over 13 minutes of Nike shots while Nadal hogged more than 22 minutes. And the television coverage was only the tip of the PR iceberg for the sports clothing company. with victory shots of Nadal published on front pages of newspapers all over the world.

    But tennis may pale in comparison to other sports, with the company reportedly receiving more than $14 million in free publicity from the final round of the Masters golf.
