  • Gstaad - Round two preview Youzhny vs. Cipolla

     - Russia's Mikhail Youzhny attempts to regroup from his round of 16 loss at Wimbledon on the clay.

Russian Mikhail Youzhny had somewhat of an exhausting Wimbledon. He lost in straight sets to Rafael Nadal in the round of 16, but his two matches prior to that encounter were lengthy five set affairs. His third round match against Radek Stepanek lasted over four hours. In order to get the win, Flavio Cipolla will need to hope that the Russian is still tired.

Youzhny has had an up and down year in 2008. He snagged a title in the first tournament of the year in Chennai and made the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. Since then, his results have been a bit disappointing. His round of 16 exit from Wimbledon is probably his best result since Melbourne. His on-court antics have made more news than his tennis. In Miami, he bashed himself in the head with his own racquet enough times to make himself bleed - during a match with Nicolas Almagro.

Cipolla’s record is 2-3 for 2008. He has spent the majority of the year playing in Challenger events, where he has one win over Stephane Bohli in Noumea. Wawrinka simply has too much game for the Italian. Expect Wawrinka to breeze through this one easily.
