  • Wimbledon: Gasquet, Murray and Stepanek in round three action

Wimbledon: Gasquet, Murray and Stepanek in round three action The bottom quarter of the draw remains packed with seeds as the top players all vie for a berth in the round of 16.

    Tommy Haas vs. Andy Murray

In one of the more interesting third round match-ups, Tommy Haas and Andy Murray will fight for a spot in the round of 16. Murray and Haas have split wins - Murray won their first encounter at Indian Wells in 2007, Haas won their second, also at Indian Wells. Haas has not had the best form in 2008. His best result came in Indian Wells, where he reached the quarters. Murray struggled with his results on clay, but he is far more dangerous on grass than on dirt. With the crowd behind him, the Scot should be able to pull through.

    Mikhail Youzhny vs. Radek Stepanek

Russia's Mikhail Youzhny has not been enjoying the best form since reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. The most news-worthy thing the Russian has done since January was hitting himself in the head repeatedly with his racquet while playing Nicolas Almagro at the Miami Masters event. Youzhny was fortunate to get through his five set second round match against Italian Stefano Galvani. Radek Stepanek also survived a second round scare against Viktor Troicki. Stepanek plays a more conventional grass court game, but Youzhny could give him trouble if Stepanek does not pick up his level.

    Richard Gasquet vs. Gilles Simon

Probably the most easily predicted of the third round matches in the bottom quarter is Richard Gasquet and Gilles Simon. Gasquet holds a 2-0 over his French countryman and is the far better player on grass. Unless Gasquet has one of his now-legendary mental walk-abouts, he should be able to seal this match up in three.
