Andy Roddick, a 2 time finalist, is the favorite to reach the semis from the 3rd quarter of the draw and starts off against Argentine Eduardo Schwank.
Schwank should pose no problem for the American. He is a claycourter through and through and Roddick should advance with ease.
Janko Tipsarevic, the wild Serbian, is an aggresive player that has Frenchman Thierry Ascione in his first round. He can very well lose to Ascione, or he could win in straights. Either case, it will be fun to watch him.
Dmitry Tursunov, the 30 seed, who recently said that breaking rackets is like rough sex, has tricky serve and volleyer Nicolas Mahut in his opening round. That one could go either way, but it is an interesting constrast of styles.
There are also a couple of clay courters who are as comfortable on grass as cows are on ice. Almagro, Granollers, Garcia-Lopez, and Ventura are all near to each other in the draw. That little section is wide open as they all play today.
James Blake is also in there, and he takes on Christophe Rochus. Blake should easily win that one and advance past the plethora of clay courters.
