Robby Ginepri's improbable run to the French Open fourth round looks like putting the outsider into US Olympic consideration.
With the likes of Andy Roddick and 2004 Athens silver medallist Mardy Fish giving Beijing a miss in August, No. 88 Ginepri - considered a no-hoper with wins in just four previous career matches on the clay prior to Roland Garros - is suddenly in with a big chance.
“I'm definitely pleased to have the opportunity to play, and an honour to represent my country,” said Ginepri. “It (the Games) were not on my schedule, so we're going to have to sit down and probably rearrange some things”.
Ginepri still has room for more success in Paris, with an upcoming date against Fernando Gonzalez looming.
“It's a great opportunity to go, I've never been before. I went to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and had a great time, and now I can actually be playing in it. It's really going to be special for me”.
