The All-Russian affair here between rising star Evgeny Korolev and resident blogger and funnyman Dmitry Tursunov.
Tursunov is the higher ranked player and should thus have the advantage. He just missed out on a seed and a bye. His all power big hitting who-needs-a-gameplan style has won him the title in Sydney this year but he has been unimpressive since. Of course, he has lost to two top 10 players in Gasquet and Nadal, but he also lost to Chela in Indian Wells, an inexcusable offense for someone with this style of play.
Evgeny Korolev is perhaps known most for the debacle in Las Vegas last year involving himself, Blake, and Del Potro, which won't be discussed here. Korolev has been steady this year, winning a few rounds then losing in each one of his events. He score a great win over Fernando Gonzalez in Las Vegas this year and will come in here with a shot at a win.
They've played once before, with Korolev winning in 3 sets at last year's Indian Wells. This match should also be close but will be decided more with whether or not Tursunov will smack down winners or hit the ball 10 feet out with his run-and-gun game. Expect a tight, intense one here.
