Young French star Richard Gasquet historically has had problems defeating Sweden's hard hitting Robin Söderling.
They have met on four occaisions; Söderling has won their last two meetings, both of which took place on hard courts. Gasquet won the first two but has failed to defeat the Swede on hard courts. Despite the significant difference in their rakings (Gasquet is ranked 8, Söderling 39), Söderling has had by far the more impressive year. Gasquet's best result was a round of 16 exit from the Australian Open; excluding that tournament, he has lost in the second round of every other event he has entered. Söderling has already made 2 hardcourt finals this year in Memphis and Rotterdam and a quarterfinal in Marseille, where he beat Richard Gasquet in the second round.
While it would technically be considered an upset if Söderling were to beat Gasquet, it would certainly not be a surprise. Söderling in two.
