  • Ivan Ljubicic vs. Marin Cilic in All-Bigserving Croat 2nd round throwdown

    3/15/08 5:54 PM | Jonathan Morgan
Ivan Ljubicic vs. Marin Cilic in All-Bigserving Croat 2nd round throwdown Cilic and Ljubo will play their 2nd round match on Sunday. Expect aces, tiebreaks, and short rallies in this one. You know, nothing new.

Fans that loved the big serving, fast courts, and 2-3 shot rallies at maximum of the 90's era tennis will love a throwback with this match. With Cilic at 195 cm and Ljubicic at 193 cm, height will be standard. Both players will look to dominate play with their huge serves, and Ljubicic will have the advantage of a bigger serve with more variety.

However, once the serve has been returned, Cilic has the major advantage. Ljubicic's ground game has looked deplorable in recent months and years since his amazing 2005-2006 years. If Cilic can simply get the ball back in play, he will have quite an advantage. Volleys will also be common. Cilic's volleys are solid, and he will advance up there to finish off a point many times. Tiebreak(s) may very well be the decider, and a few points here and there will decide the match.
