     - Having a big win over a star name in front of home fans it’s always tough returning the next day for a much lower key match against an opponent, few will have heard of apart from the most ardent of tennis fans. This is the task which awaits Robin Haase in today’s night session. Michael Berrer will be unknown to the vast majority of Haase’s vociferous home fans and after dumping Andy Murray out yesterday in such style, he’ll be fully expected to make the last 8

They’ve faced each other once before, Haase winning a close one 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 in the quarters of a small German challenger last year. Berrer cruised past a qualifier 6-3, 6-2 in rd1 and the Stuttgart left-hander is ranked over 30 places higher than Haase at 61. He’s currently reaping the rewards of years grinding it out in the challengers, his all-court versatility helping him to make the big leap last year with strong performances on clay, hard and grass. Berrer hasn’t started 2008 particularly well though, the only highlight to date being a rd1 win over the prodigous Donald Young in Melbourne before getting overpowered by Andy Roddick on Rod Laver Arena

Another big riser in 2007, Haase has had a very different start to the new season, also claiming the scalps of Baghdatis (Doha) and Ljubicic (Melbourne) in the first few weeks

Looking ahead to the match, Haase said it would be totally different to the Murray match, he’s expecting much fewer rallies. Both players have big serves, Berrer is a real scrapper from the back - just wearing opponents down with his defensive
