3 Americans and the surprise of the tournament, 18 year old Kei Nishikori will play for the finals.
Kei Nishikori def. Bobby Reynolds, 6-2, 6-4
A rather routine win for the 18 year old Japanse qualifier. He seems to be having a coming out party here in Delray with his awesome play this week. He looked much more like a veteran today, working points well and constantly finding the winning shot. Reynolds really had no answers for Nishikori today, as the youngster dictated play the whole time. He will play in his first ATP semifinal and with his performances this week will crack the top 200, passing Go Soeda as the #1 Japanse player. He will play big serving Sam Querrey in the next round.
Sam Querrey def. Vince Spadea, 6-2, 6-4
This tournament seems to be one for the young guns as Querrey had no problem dispatching Spadea today. Querrey was on him from the first ball and didnt let up. Querrey threw down 10 aces and was never troubled on his own serve, not even facing a break point. He finished off Spadea in less than an hour. Sam reaches his 2nd career ATP semifinal and will play Nishikori for either man's first ATP level final.
James Blake def. Igor Kunitsyn, 6-2, 6-4
Another match with the same scoreline. Blake didn't dominate this match as well as he could have, but he got the job done. He was broken 3 times himself, but he broke Kunitsyn 6 times. It was a bit of an up and down match as many Blake matches are, but in the end it was a solid win. Blake remains an overwhelming favorite to win the event and will face fellow American wild card Robby Ginepri in the semifinals.
Robby Ginepri def. Mardy Fish 6-1, 4-6, 6-4
Ginepri has owned Fish in their head to head in their careers, now getting to 4-0. Ginepri was fantastic in the opening set, but the final two were wild and up and down. Should Ginepri upset Blake tomorrow, he will be the first wild card in the finals in Delray since Malisee in 1999. It has also been a year and a half since he reached an ATP semifinal, back in Indianapolis 2006. He seems to be back on the comeback trail and will look to take out Blake to make his week grand.
