Hewitt angry at officials, Safin beat Murray, Roddick takes an easy win against Ljubicic and seeds lost in Heineken Open.
* Lleyton Hewitt called the match officials useless and ordinary after his loss to Chris Guccione in two tiebreak sets.
- Central umpires have gone into the shells since Hawk-Eye's come in. It's tough for them because one week they have Hawk-Eye and the next they don't, said Hewitt after the match.
* Marat Safin took a surprising win against Andy Murray in the exhibition event Kooyong Classic in Melbourne with 6-1, 6-4. Safin was pleased after the match.
- It is such a long time since I played such good tennis. I was pretty surprised how well I played, said Safin after the match.
* Andy Roddick beat Ivan Ljubicic by 6-3, 6-0 in the same tournament and looked really confident.
* David Nalbandian was forced to pull out of the Kooyong Classic with back spasm and he is not sure whether he will be able to play the Australian Open. It was during practice with Safin that he felt the injury and had to stop playing immeadiately.
- It came upp after about 30 minutes of training. I tried to finish, Marat and I were playing points but I had to stop. For sure I can't play, I can't even hit slowly. We have to wait and see, said Nalbandian after the practice.
* In Heineken Open three of the seeds lost in the second round. Second seed Juan-Ignacio Chela lost in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6, to Florian Mayer. Mayer broke Chelas serve twice in the first set and forced the Argentinean to many unforced errors. No 6 seed Nicolas Almagro lost to Julien Benneteau by 4-6, 6-2, 4-6 and the winner Benneteau will now face first seed David Ferrer. Another upset came when Albert Montanes lost to in-form Michael Llodra who won by 6-3, 6-4.
