Just when we thought it couldnt get any better. When we thought the Kohlschreiber match was unbelievable, when Blake battled back, this one tops them all.
Tipsarevic was absolutely fantastic tonight, as was Federer. Several times the Serb lost his serve only to break Federer right back. He won the first set in a tiebreak, lost the 2nd one, and saved 2 set points in the 3rd before closing it out 7-5.
In the fourth, Federer seemed to find his groove and Tipsarevic looked to not give his best effort, to save all of it for the 5th. Before the 5th set, the trainer came out to tape up Tipsarevic's foot/ankle area, but he showed no signs of it bothering him. Throughout the 5th, Tipsarevic came up with big serve after big forehand after big backhand after great volley. He could not have played any better than he did, and seemed to have ice in his veins on numerous points.
In the end though, the champion prevailed. Federer broke Tipsarevic in a wild game at 8-8. Tipsarevic had 40-0, but Federer fought back and took the break. After a few shaky shots in the final game, Federer found a way to get the job done, as all great champions do.
