World No. 28 John Isner was crowned champion in Winston Salem, having rallied to oust qualifier Julien Benneteau in three sets. The American captured his second title of the season on Saturday.
Fourth seed John Isner sealed a strong week in Winston Salem with a championship victory over Frenchman Julien Benneteau. The 26-year-old surrendered the opening set, the regrouped to take the match in a little over two hours, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
After splitting the first two sets, a backhand error gave Isner a 3-2 edge in the third. Triple championship point came at 5-4 for the American, who closed on a forehand winner.
Isner completed his title-winning run with 19 aces and 51 of 61 first-service points captured.
He is twice an ATP World Tour champion in 2011, having won his first season title in Newport.
