  • Murray defeats Tsonga, into first Wimbledon final

    7/7/12 2:47 AM | Cheryl Murray
Britain's own Andy Murray is into his first ever Wimbledon final with a defeat of Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semifinals.

To the delight of the British crowd, Scotland's Andy Murray has finally made into a Wimlbledon final after getting stopped short at the semis for three years running, with nonplussed coach Ivan Lendl looking on.

The world No. 4 took out Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in relatively routine fashion. The Frenchman wasn't at his best for Friday's match, as reflected in the 42 unforced errors from his racket. The high-risk game that sometimes works to Tsonga's advantage backfired badly.

By contrast, Murray played a clean match. The Scot played tactically smart tennis, allowing Tsonga enough rope to hang himself with. Murray hit just 12 unforced errors on the day and an impressive 40 winners.

Tsonga was able to step his game up in the third set, statistically his best of the match. He secured a single break of serve while denying Murray all three of his break-point opportunities.

The Frenchman had a small chance in the ninth game of the fourth set, earning himself a pair of break points that may have been enough to force a deciding set. But Murray fought him off and eventually closed out the match with Tsonga serving to force a tiebreaker.

Murray will take on 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in Sunday's final.

Yep, Muzz in 4 was what most folk predicted ;)

Similarly, Fed in 4 is the obvious bet for the final. So what about it, Cheryl ... Fed in 3?
